It was an immediate hit and spent over twenty years on the market, as drivers gravitated towards its unique, eye-catching design. THE STORY OF THE ECLIPSE

The Mitsubishi Eclipse first made its debut in 1990, and it made quite a splash at the time. With four unique trims to choose from, drivers had a lot of choices when it came to this stunning new car. There was even a turbo option, for those who needed even more power when they were behind the wheel. The Eclipse was usually a front-wheel drive model, with the exception of the GSX, which offered all-wheel drive. A few years later, drivers would be able to get behind the wheel of the new Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder. It came in two different trim levels, and as a soft-top convertible, it drew eyes from all over. The Eclipse’s run wouldn’t last forever though, as it would eventually be discontinued in 2011. This car helped drivers familiarize themselves with the Mitsubishi brand, and today, it lives on through its distant cousin, the Eclipse Cross.

You may have seen this engine mentioned earlier, but if you want to learn more about what the turbocharged 2.0L 4G63 engine can do, you might want to look at some of its accomplishments.

• The Zero-To-Sixty Time: This model could quickly make its way to sixty miles per hour in less than seven seconds. It’s important to remember that this car dates back to 1990, so you can imagine how it compared to other vehicles at the time. When drivers hit the gas pedal, the Eclipse responded in full force.
