AC Service

Get Your Car's A/C Serviced at Don Herring Auto Group
If it’s hot and humid out, we all like the cool fresh air that our AC system offers, but like everything else the AC system eventually wears out. When the system breaks down or wears out, it can cause leaks to develop in the system. When refrigerant leaks, it can harm the evaporator and compressor found in the AC system, not to mention it can be harmful to the environment. Fortunately, if you live in or near Dallas, Irving, or Plano, our service technicians at Don Herring Auto Group can help get your AC system back to doing its job of keeping you cool.
Schedule ServicePerformance Check
If your AC system is burning you up instead of cooling you down, bring your vehicle into Don Herring Auto Group and let our expert technician run a performance check on your AC system and diagnose where your problem lies. If a leak is discovered, the service technician will stop it before it gets worse and causes other problems.
When they inspect the AC system, our technicians will look at wherever the leak is and then replace the worn parts. A leak in the system can be caused by loose fittings, bad O-rings, worn out seals and hoses, among other possibilities. Our technicians will inspect, diagnose, and repair or replace any damaged or worn components in your AC system to restore that cool refreshing blast of air to keep you comfortable.
Common AC System Problems
- Hot Air: If your AC is blowing out hot air, it can mean you have a major problem. When water gets into your AC, it bonds to refrigerant and creates a highly-corrosive, acidic compound that slowly eats away components in your AC system. This acid will weaken rubber seals that normally prevent coolant from leaking. If you do not have sufficient refrigerant due to a leak in the system, it can affect your AC’s ability to cool your vehicle.
- Funky Smell: The weird smell may signal that you need some AC work. If you smell a foul odor, it can mean you have mold in the system. Water has gotten into the system, which led to the growth of mold. It may just be a dirty, damp cabin air filter, or it could mean a blocked drain in the evaporator casing.
- Weak Airflow: Too much moisture in the evaporator core can mean a buildup of mold, mildew, or dirt and debris that is causing blockage. Other factors that restrict airflow can be a problem in the evaporator core, or it can mean the blower motor is damaged or wearing out.
Why Does It Matter?
You want to be comfortable wherever you go, and on hot, humid days fresh cool air from your AC makes the trip more pleasant. Maintaining the system can prevent more costly repairs down the road.
How Often Do I Need Maintenance?
The best practice for maintenance frequency is to check your owner’s manual for manufacturer recommendations. If you don’t have access to the manual, it is usually recommended that AC service be performed at least once a year.
