Similar in Power

The two models are similar in many ways when it comes to performance. Both models feature a turbo engine, though the 2025 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross is an I4 compared to the I3 for the Escape. Mitsubishi also makes 4WD standard while Ford has front-wheel drive for the Escape. One of the biggest differences is with the basic warranty. Mitsubishi provides coverage for five years or 60K compared to three years or 36K for the Ford Escape. Paired with the engine for the Eclipse Cross is a continuously variable transmission while the Escape has an eight-speed automatic transmission. Though the two models have similar gas mileage, you’ll travel further in the Eclipse Cross because it has a bigger gas tank.

Modern Design

Both the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross and Ford Escape offer some of the latest features, such as LED headlamps for improved visibility at night. Only Mitsubishi makes fog lamps standard on the base trim. However, they both include Daytime Running Lights. The Eclipse Cross is equipped with heated mirrors and integrated turn signals as standard. Inside these SUVs, you’ll find the basics, such as power doors and windows, cruise control, and audio controls on the steering wheel. Many of the bonus features are available in packages or as an option. Both models include a radio, but Mitsubishi adds HD Radio.

Putting Safety First

Mitsubishi and Ford make safety a top priority, loading these two models with some of the most advanced systems available. Along with a backup camera, traction control, and brake assist, both models make automatic braking standard to help prevent accidents in various situations. They also include a type of lane keep assist even though their systems are different. Mitsubishi uses a Muti-View Camera System for multiple camera angles around the SUV. You also get Rear Cross Traffic Alert, which helps you know if an obstacle is in your way as you back up. Adaptive Cruise Control allows you to travel at a set speed while adjusting to stay with the flow of traffic. Even the design of the 2025 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross helps protect passengers with RISE body construction to reduce injury in an impact crash. Both models include Blind Spot Warning to help you know when it’s not safe to move into another lane.

As you look at the options available in the compact SUV segment, you’ll see that the 2025 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross has something to offer everyone. This model is loaded with safety and competes with the Ford Escape. The model you choose will depend on what you’re looking for.
